Thompson & Thompson, Attorneys At Law is a south-central Kentucky Law firm that was founded by Bill Thompson in 1995. Located in Somerset, Kentucky, Thompson & Thompson is a family operated business that handles legal matters in multiple areas of law.
Meet the Team
William M. Thompson II
Founder/Attorney
William M. Thompson II, known throughout the community as "Bill", was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, as a Lexington Catholic graduate in the class of 1978. Bill attended University of Kentucky before receiving a Law Degree from Chase College of Law in 1989.
After law school, Bill clerked for former Circuit Judge, Daniel J. Venters, now associate Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court. Bill then began to work under Richard Hay, specializing in personal injury cases. While working with Mr. Hay, Bill began an assistant prosecuting position with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office. After transferring to an assistant county attorney position in Pulaski County for two years, Bill was appointed as the County Attorney of Pulaski County in 2001. Bill was later elected by the citizens of Pulaski County and held public office for 10 years as Pulaski County Attorney. Later, Bill worked again as an assistant prosecutor under Commonwealth Attorney, Eddy Montgomery, prosecuting in Pulaski County.
Bill has now retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as a prosecutor, and devotes his time to his private practice where he specializes in civil litigation cases. Having returned to a specialized private practice in personal injury litigation, Bill is a seasoned trial lawyer, having received multiple jury verdicts in favor of his clients.
Dan Thompson
Attorney
Dan Thompson, the youngest sibling to Bill Thompson, is a seasoned litigator with 17 years of experience in the Courtroom. He graduated in 1996 from Yale University and attended the University Of Kentucky College Of Law.
Dan Thompson spent 10 years working with the Pulaski County Attorney’s Office and was the primary litigator and trial lawyer. He has tried numerous in front of a jury. His jury experience and courtroom arguments make him at ease in front of the Court.
Dan Thompson as represented several small corporations, doctors, and private individuals. He most recently has performed a federal false claim jury trial and appealed the matter to the United States Circuit Court for the Sixth Circuit.
His 17 years of experience in all areas of the law, provide his clients with a foundation for competent representation and legal counsel.
William M. Thompson III
Attorney
William M. Thompson III, know as “Will”, is the oldest son of Bill and Rob Thompson, and a husband to Callie Anne Thompson, and father to William M. Thompson IV and Blake Garner Thompson. Raised in the Somerset community, Will attended Somerset High School, participating in athletics. Will completed a double major in History and Political Sciences from Western Kentucky University, and obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from Appalachian School of Law, located in Virginia. Will began working with the firm in the summer of 2016. While mainly focusing on personal injury litigation, Will also serves as the Assistant County Attorney of nearby Lincoln County. Will's areas of practice specialize in automobile and personal injury litigation. Since working with the firm, Will has tried several criminal and civil trials before a jury, providing an excellent base for courtroom experience.
Having the privilege to grow up in the Lake Cumberland area, Will is an avid outdoorsmen and enjoys his hunting and fishing hobbies.
